The secret to Joy of St Croix’s success since 1980 is that our two day bathtub refinishing process begins and ends with the paint’s edges; the boundary conditions of the paint, where water wicks, bacteria grows, and paint delaminates or cracks if the edges are not correctly sealed and protected. We start with removal of the caulking, drain basket, and overflow cover. The surface is cleaned and minor repairs are made with special attention to the drain area to assure a proper .

Refinishing of a standard residential built-in bathtub is an estimated two days. Stripping of existing finish prior to refinishing is an additional charge and an additional day.
This service is for the bathtub only – no walls. Tile walls are a separate service ordered as “tile refinishing”. One piece composite units are a separate service ordered as a “shower / bathtub combo”.

    The following questions will not only assist the crew in locating the correct bathroom and bathtub quickly if they are not meeting a jobsite contact-person, but will establish the exact bathtub in the house that is covered by the warranty.

    *Have you seen the refinishing project and jobsite?

    Avoid costly delays caused by mistakes and omissions in ordering refinishing projects.
    Mistakes and omissions in the ordering process can result in costly delays, e.g., rescheduling because of no access to the property or time in the schedule to obtain authorisation to revise the invoice or perform the revised project. Maybe there's some additional damage that you are not aware of or are responsible for.
    All of these questions will have to be answered eventually so the time you take today will avoid costly delays tomorrow.

    *Has your bathtub or shower been previously refinished?

    The purpose of this website and the order form is to avoid costly delays and charges caused by mistakes and omissions in the ordering process.
    We respect your position - You're not sure what the unit is made of: Maybe because it's never occurred to you that they are made of different materials, or that some materials can be stripped while others can't, or you may not even be in the same State as the house with the bathtub to be refinished.
    Please respect our position as well: we have limited time, labor, and resources - and when they're lost they can never be recovered.
    Stripping takes a full day, so both you and we need to schedule three full days...one for the stripping and two for the refinishing.

    If the unit is acrylic or gelcoat and needs to be stripped then it is NOT eligible for refinishing by Joy of St Croix - Tub Repair and More.
    If the refinishing crew finds that the unit is a previously refinished acrylic or gelcoat unit the project will be cancelled and subject to cancellation fees (trip fee plus materials purchased expressly for the project, e.g., custom colors, hardware, etc.) and may not be refunded for up to 90 days

    ~ Projects between 25 and 50 miles are charged $2.37 per mile past the 25 mile radius boundary.
    ~ Projects between 50 and 75 miles are charged $3.00 per mile from our main studio location at 946 Twiggs St, Augusta, GA 30901.

Description

 Joy of St Croix's bathtub refinishing is a two day process that begins and ends with the edges of the coating's boundaries. In the context of a bathtub the caulking perimeter, the drain aperture, and overflow hole are the boundaries. The bathtub's newly refinished coating stops at these boundary points,  the condition of that edge determines the structural integrity of the entire surface. The first day the drain basket, overflow cover, and caulking are removed. The bathtub is cleaned and prepared for painting. The bathtub is primed, painted, and allowed to cure overnight. The second day is spent sanding and polishing the coating . The service comes with a new drain shoe and overflow cover. Please note: Joy of St Croix is not a licensed plumber; we are painters. We are not liable if your drain or overflow pipe leaks or breaks in the replacement If you have a plumber that you the drain and overflow replacement. pipe if the tub has been previously refinished it will need to be stripped.
